....and Going, and Going, and Going....

Well folks, another late post. We are back at the house for the night resting and getting things washed. Now that Jack can wear clothes we need to wash a load every few nights along with his isolette blankets. Jack had another huge weight gain yesterday. The nurses told us that he is now up to 4 lbs 12 oz (maybe he hadn't pooed yet when they weighed him). We hope that it's his true weight and he'll gain some more today. We'll get him plumped up before he comes home. The doctor increased his feedings to 40 ml, and have decreased the oxygen flow on his vapotherm machine to 2 liters per minute. Hopefulle he keeps up the good work and doesn't have any problems or repeats of last Monday's incident.

Other than that, nothing much is new. Mary and I each hold him once a day and it's so great that he is getting big enough to interact with. It's also nice to see that his eyes seem to move around with purpose now and not just randomly moving around.

Making Up Some Weight

Back again for another late post....sorry. We've had some company today and then I've just been resting at home. Well, after Jack's break from gaining weight yesterday, he gained a few ounces today. He is at 3 lbs 13oz (well again 12.something ounces, but I round up), I had to look twice at the computer monitor to be sure I had read the correct field. The doctor also lowered his liters per minute on the vapotherm machine to 2 lpm, down from 3 lpm. So, he is slowly but surely getting weened off of the machines, then to straight high flow oxygen, then room air. He still has the occasional bradycardia and apnea, but they seem to be getting fewer and further apart (we are very thankful for this).

It was Mary's turn to do some kangaroo care today, Ekota got to sit in with her for about an hour while it was going on. We also got a visit from our friends from Lakeport, Danielle, Ryan and Ryken Villanueva. They all hung out with us at the trailer, then Danielle went in to say hi to Jack. It was another positive day out at Kaiser. Jack is looking so much better and getting so much bigger, he just needs to keep all this up.
